The Manufacturing Leadership Council, a division of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), has named Owens Corning as a national finalist in the 2024 Manufacturing Leadership Awards. This is the second consecutive year that efforts of Owens Corning’s Roofing business have been recognized through this premier awards program for achievements in digital manufacturing.
Owens Corning earned recognition as a finalist in the “Operational Excellence” category for its work to accelerate diagnostics and problem solving in its shingle plants. This includes introducing a suite of digital tools in the areas of asset health, process health, and digitally enabled front-line workers. In sync with the new digital platform, improved organizational design also supported this effort by moving to a regional and virtual manufacturing support team, and redefining technical roles and front-line employee responsibilities to truly leverage the technology investments.
“Owens Corning continues to leverage new digital technologies in our operations in ways that strengthen service and quality for our customers and reduce risk and hurdles for our employees,” said Gunner Smith, Owens Corning Roofing president. “We are honored to be recognized for a second year in a row by the Manufacturing Leadership Council.”
The company will be recognized for its work at the Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala on June 5. Winners in all project and individual categories will be announced at that time.
According to the Manufacturing Leadership Council, finalist recognition indicates that the project is among industry’s most innovative and noteworthy as selected by a distinguished panel of judges.
