Roofing contractors and cats have something in common: they both end up on roofs sooner or later. Such was the case in Buckingham, England, located midway between London and Birmingham, where a kind-hearted contractor came to the rescue of a trapped kitten.

According to a story from MKFM radio, on Aug. 1, the daughter of residents Jodie and Wayne Dennis spotted a cat on the ridge of their high-pitched roof. They quickly realized it was their 11-month-old kitten, Pandora, who reportedly had never been outside.

Jodie took to Facebook, posting in the group "Buckingham Recommends" about their dilemma. George Gregory of GG & Sons in Milton Keynes (a city in Buckinghamshire) saw the post and responded, letting the family know he was on his way.

After making the 20-minute journey to their home, Gregory set up a ladder and climbed up to the roof, where he then shifted the roofing tiles to create hand and footholds to climb onto the roof. The roofer scooped up Pandora and, instead of risking taking the precious cargo down the ladder, handed the pet to the daughter through the loft window.

“A emergency call out with a difference but we love a challenge,” GG & Sons posted on Facebook. “Thankfully, Pandora the kitten was friendly and seemed rather grateful so we leave the roof scratch less [sic].”

Gregory refused to take payment for the deed, instead chatting with the family for a bit before heading back out.

“George is an absolute star. We can't thank him enough!” Jodie told MKFM.
