GAF announced new features for its Timberline HDZ Reflector Series (RS) shingles, which offer rich colors and reflectivity. They feature enhanced EcoDark Granule technology, which allows for dark colors homeowners crave, including Charcoal, the darkest highly reflective shingle color available in California.

These enhancements allow contractors to provide customers with a shingle rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council, which can be used to comply with Title 24's Cool Roof Requirements and the LA County Green Building Standards Code.

Timberline HDZ RS now also includes GAF time-release, algae-fighting technology, which powers the 25-year StainGuard Plus Algae Protection Limited Warranty* against blue-green algae discoloration, making it suitable for hot and coastal climates.

Existing features of the Timberline HDZ RS shingles include LayerLock Technology, which mechanically fuses the common bond and powers the StrikeZone Nailing Area  which GAF says is the industry’s largest nailing area — for fast and accurate nailing. The shingles are also eligible for the WindProven Limited Wind Warranty,** with no maximum wind speed limitation, when installed with four qualifying accessories.
