Beacon is seeking nominations for its sixth annual Beacon of Hope contest, which will award new roofs at no cost to 12 veteran-owned homes and two community buildings that house organizations serving veterans.

In addition to expanding the number of recipients and buildings that receive a prize, this is the first year that Gold Star Families are welcome as nominees. Gold Star Families are those who have experienced the loss of an immediate family member who made the ultimate sacrifice during active-duty military service, so Beacon is extending the promise of a sound roof to Gold Star Families in need.

Beacon of Hope is part of Beacon’s commitment to Building Better for its Communities. The program is open to all military veterans in the U.S. and Canada. Together with local roofing companies, Beacon will deliver and fully fund a safe, durable roof for 12 residential winners and two community buildings. The new roof will feature TRI-BUILT products, Beacon’s private label brand, and products from CertainTeed.

Since launching the program in 2018, Beacon has installed over 50 roofs so that veterans have sound roofs on their homes.

“We proudly stand by our veterans, honoring their service and dedication to our country, which is why it’s our privilege to go further this year by supporting more veterans and including Gold Star Families,” said Jonathan Bennett, Beacon’s chief commercial officer. “We created the Beacon of Hope program to ensure these veterans have a high-quality roof over their heads.

"We are humbled to partner with local communities and industry partners like CertainTeed to help build a brighter future for veterans and urge the public to honor deserving veterans in their community by nominating them for an opportunity to receive a new roof.”

From Aug. 15 through Oct. 4, the public can nominate a U.S. or Canadian veteran or Gold Star Family at the Beacon of Hope website or by submitting an e-mail to beaconofhope@becn.com. A panel will select 12 grand-prize residential and two community winners and announce the deserving winners on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.
