Saint-Gobain subsidiary CertainTeed Siding is investing $28 million in expanding its Williamsport, Md., facility to increase production shipping capacity and create a centralized distribution site.

Saint-Gobain signed a 15-year renewable electricity supply agreement with TotalEnergies for its 125 industrial sites in North America, aiming to reduce its carbon emissions in North America. 

Building Products of Canada complements CertainTeed Canada’s existing operations by offering roofing materials like residential shingles and wood fiber insulation panels. The acquisition, first announced in June, was valued at nearly $1 billion.

Saint-Gobain announced plans to invest $235 million in expanding its CertainTeed manufacturing facility in Palatka, Fla., doubling production capacity and installing high-efficiency equipment, further reducing its carbon footprint.  

A deal announced by France’s Saint-Gobain to acquire privately-owned Building Products of Canada Corp. on June 12 in a nearly $1 billion cash acquisition solidifies the concern’s dominance within the Canadian construction product manufacturing sector.

The proprietary technology from Asphaltica will allow Saint-Gobain to pelletize both post-industrial and post-consumer shingle waste. 

Construction toward the new CertainTeed distribution center is expected to begin in 2023 with completion of the entire project expected several years after.

The Saint-Gobain North America Foundation donated over $1.4 Million to nonprofits across the U.S. and Canada in 2022.

The project comes as Saint-Gobain continues to roll out its global Grow and Impact strategy, which includes ambitious environmental sustainability goals.

Schools across Georgia, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania competed to receive $250,000 in donated building materials solutions and program materials.
