One of the highest maintenance items in roofing is the boot. Boots are used at the base of plumbing vents and seals the pipe. Even the best gaskets will deteriorate in a few years causing leaking. Gaskets wear out well before the roof will need replacing. Often times more than once.

I was presented a new and innovate product that covers the boot and is guaranteed the life of the roof. Perma-Boot is a TPO UV-protected product that slides over the existing pipe (1 ½”, 2”, 3”, and 4”) and confirms to the roof pitch (3” to 12”). Finishing off the application with a sealant to the top of the boot and pipe, the boot is slid down and pressed into place.

They offer the item in both new and existing roofing jobs. Using the Perma-Boot when the roof is installed or even during repairs will prevent leaks from the start. The item sells for around $20.00. It’s a small price to pay considering the alternative of replacing an existing boot gasket and the damage created by a leaking one.
