As we head into 2013, I’d just like to take a moment to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year. As the country faces continuing economic uncertainty, it seems we all could use a bit of luck right now.
I used to work with someone who had a habit of saying “Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit” on the first day of every month. He said it brought him good luck — and it was especially lucky if you did it on the first day of a new year. I’d never heard of that superstition before and figured it was pretty rare, but later I saw that expression used as a plot point during an episode of “Law & Order,” and I wondered if more people did that than I thought.
For some reason it popped into my head as I woke up on January 1. I said, “Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.” I figured it couldn’t hurt. Hopefully 2013 will be a lucky number.
