There should be little doubt that the OSHA of 2011 is not the OSHA of 2000-08. Anticipated changes in OSHA have been on the way since the new Secretary of Labor in the Obama administration took over with the statement, “There is a new sheriff in town.”
By now you have been privileged to receive an e-mailbox (or two) full of price increase notices. It seems the price of asphalt roofing is on the rise yet again. Question is: “Do you believe it?”
This blog posting is being written on the somewhat infamous one-year anniversary of the theft of a copper roof in north Metro Atlanta. No, not just the gutters or downspouts, but the entire copper roof.
Bear in mind, this blog is all opinion all the time. I try to stick with the facts, but the fact is when I veer into government and politics, the topic is simply more art than science.

blog posting. For nearly 30 years my contributions to Roofing Contractor have been on the topics of roofing equipment,
systems, contractors, suppliers, products, manufacturers, accessories,
business, etc., etc.
GAF’s recent announcement elevating their
upscale asphalt shingle products to “Limited Lifetime Warranty” status is
nothing short of a game changer in the steep-slope roofing business.
As we approach the end of another year it is
time to give thanks and for many to “give back”. It is unfortunate that many of
us do not have as much to give back as in years past, but it is important that
we do the best we can.
