The U.S. Labor Dept. has launched an initiative to improve safety and enforcement in the engineered stone industry due to severe health risks from silica dust exposure. 

New directive provides OSHA compliance safety and health officers with guidance on how to enforce the silica standards’ requirements.

OSHA is requesting information on additional engineering and work practice control methods to limit exposure to silica for the equipment and tasks currently listed in the agency's Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard for Construction.
