ServiceTitan, a software provider for the trades and widely considered a major player that serves a significant portion of home service businesses, is betting big that its new platform for roofing contractor firms will gain lift by collaborating with SRS Distribution.

The partnership focuses on solving key operational challenges for roofing contractors, including rising material costs and procurement inefficiencies. By integrating their systems, the companies aim to improve efficiency, transparency, and scalability for contractors. SRS, one of Roofing’s “Big 3” suppliers, also brings its new heft as a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Home Depot.

Last March, ServiceTitan released its first Exteriors Contractor Market Report, which surveyed more than 1,000 contractors in the roofing, gutters, siding, solar, windows, skylights, decks, doors, and insulation industries.

Rising material costs and a shortage of qualified labor are putting pressure on exterior contractors' profit margins. ServiceTitan’s data indicated that acquiring new customers (66%) and increasing revenue (65%) are the key goals for most contractors. To meet these goals, businesses are focusing on streamlining labor costs (64%), reducing employee turnover (38%), and improving technology use (27%).

Chris Petros, general manager of Residential Markets at ServiceTitan, emphasized the partnership’s purpose: “We are committed to providing roofers with the transformative solutions they need to enhance their business and better serve their customers. Our partnership brings the power of SRS into ServiceTitan, equipping roofers with a streamlined workflow that reduces the time between estimate, order, and execution.”

According to the Nov. 13 news release, the integration will roll out in two phases: The first phase, launching in late 2024, will allow contractors to access SRS product catalogs through ServiceTitan’s platform.

This capability will simplify the process of creating accurate, visually compelling project proposals by offering detailed product descriptions, images, and automated daily price updates.

The second phase, launching in spring 2025, will allow contractors to check real-time pricing and inventory availability at SRS branches, submit orders electronically, and track delivery status directly within the ServiceTitan platform.

Rajeev Rai, EVP and Chief Digital Officer at SRS, described the partnership as groundbreaking: “With great excitement, we announce our partnership with ServiceTitan, making SRS Distribution the first roofing distributor to integrate with their innovative platform fully. This collaboration will redefine contractor operations with seamless digital solutions.”

The initiative reflects a broader trend of digital transformation within the roofing industry. ServiceTitan’s continued expansion into roofing builds on its success in the mechanical trades, where its solutions have helped businesses improve operational efficiency and customer engagement.

At its recent Pantheon 2024 summit, ServiceTitan showcased AI-driven tools like Titan Intelligence, which provides predictive analytics and automation. Tools such as SalesPro, designed to enhance contractor sales capabilities, and Contact Center Pro, which centralizes communications, also align to empower contractors to streamline operations and improve performance.

The integration with SRS seems particularly valuable for contractors dealing with the complexities of rising material costs, project delays, and operational inefficiencies. By automating procurement processes, contractors will save time, reduce errors, and improve transparency with real-time insights into pricing and inventory.

This partnership also benefits multi-location contractors, franchises, and private equity-backed firms, offering centralized tools to manage operations and track performance. “ServiceTitan empowers roofing companies to manage multiple entities effectively, gaining valuable insights into performance metrics,” Rai noted, highlighting the potential for contractors to scale their businesses with greater efficiency.

As ServiceTitan and SRS Distribution roll out the integration, roofing contractors can potentially modernize their operations to remain competitive in a rapidly changing market. Each company said the partnership promises to set a new benchmark for efficiency in the roofing industry by addressing long-standing pain points with practical, technology-driven solutions.
