Firestone Building Products, Carmel, Ind., has recently expanded its modified bitumen product line with several membranes reinforced with a 190 gram per square meter polyester mat enhanced with continuous glass fiber strands in the machine direction. Firestone APP 160 Cool and APP 170 Cool are smooth surfaced membranes. Firestone APP 180 Cool and APP 180 FR Cool are granular surfaced membranes. Firestone SBS FR Torch is a modified bitumen cap sheet. Firestone APP Glass Base Cool is a smooth surface membrane with a strong, nonwoven glass fiber mat. Used in conjunction with the company’s new Flame Free Hot Air Welder, the expanded cold-applied modified bitumen product line is an alternative for contractors who prefer hot asphalt or cold-applied systems but are limited by local building codes or ordinances.
