SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Richard and Martha Drozdzewski of Warren, Mich., have been named as the winners of a new roof in Ridgecon Construction’s No Roof Left Behind initiative.
After suffering from a heart attack, diabetes and a host of other medical problems, the Drozdzewskis’ funds had been depleted. Every rainfall meant pulling out at least a half dozen buckets to catch the leaks inside their home. “It’s just a relief we can get rid of all the buckets,” Richard said. “If we didn’t get something done, we thought we’d probably have to move out,” Martha added.
Ridgecon Construction performed the free roof installation on schedule on Aug. 7, 2015. In celebration, Ridgecon and its sponsors invited the neighborhood to join them for an Installation Celebration to kick off the project. The family-friendly, mini-block party was well attended by the Drozdzewskis’ friends and neighbors.
In addition to the roof, Richard and Martha will receive a year’s worth of oil changes from Valvoline Instant Oil Change of Chesterfield and free exterior painting from Forest Painting of Warren. Many other local businesses joined in helping to host the mini-block party, including: Hamlin Pub Catering, who provided lunch for everyone onsite that day; Dinverno Group of Madison Heights, who provided debris hauling and disposal at no charge for the build; Jump Around Moon Bounce Rentals of Fraser; Dairy Queen of Mt. Clemens; NuStar Insurance Agency of Farmington Hills; and the Cake Pop Shoppe of Ferndale.
“Martha and Richard have touched all of our hearts,” said Ridgecon Co-owner Jay Elie. “So we are thrilled to have them as our eighth No Roof Left Behind winners. This day brought so many members of our community together. We are excited to celebrate with everyone who made this possible.”
