TOLEDO, Ohio — Owens Corning Roofing announced the grand prize winner of the Accelerate Sweepstakes on March 1, during the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Las Vegas. The announcement served as the “checkered flag” on a contractor-fueled promotion that spanned nine months. Chris Amiot, owner of Advantage Construction, Inc., in East Bethel, Minn., was awarded the Grand Prize of a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe, a trip for two to IRE and a $25,000 cash prize. The Grand Prize package is valued at $84,700.
Launched in April 2016, Owens Corning created the Accelerate Sweepstakes as a platform to rally Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network members around a year-long initiative designed to increase awareness of Owens Corning’s roofing products while boosting contractor network momentum, optimizing efficiency and leveraging distribution channels. Throughout the sweepstakes, Owens Corning ran monthly promotions featuring discounts and rebates tied to various roofing products. Contractors submitted invoices to enter for a chance to win quarterly prizes as well as the grand prize. Prizes reflected a racing theme and included racing sunglasses, coolers, tablets, a racing-themed office chair and passes to attend a one-day racing school. The Corvette was parked in the Owens Corning booth during IRE along with signage congratulating Amiot on taking home the grand prize.
“As the Accelerate Sweepstakes rallied contractors throughout the U.S., their enthusiasm became contagious,” said Jason Lewinski, Owens Corning Roofing Contract Network leader. “The 2016 Accelerate Sweepstakes finished with more than 146,000 entries submitted by our contractor members. We are excited to see how the Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network will respond to this year’s Accelerate Sweepstakes with new and exciting changes and prizes.”
While 2017 marks the first time Owens Corning has awarded a Corvette at IRE, it is not the first time the Toledo-based roofing manufacturer has used the iconic American car in its marketing and sponsorship activities. In 1968, Owens Corning sponsored two racing Corvettes in the Sports Car Club of America events. After winning the central division championship, Owens Corning leveraged the sponsorship to promote its fiberglass-reinforced composite materials that offered the automotive market the strength of steel without the weight.
“We were thrilled with the participation that Chris Amiot and contractors have demonstrated for the Accelerate Sweepstakes,” said Lewinski. “And we congratulate Chris on winning the 2017 Accelerate Sweepstakes.”
