TUALATIN, Ore. — Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal has completed a unique, multiple roof project in Portland.
Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal is a leading specialty roofing contractor in the Pacific Northwest and southern California.
The company said in a release that it recently completed a roofing project for repeat customer Generations LLC at its 125,000-square-foot commercial Town Center Village rehabilitation and assisted living property. Town Center Village, 8691 SE Causey Ave, is 35 years old.
Maxwell Gabriel, project coordinator at Generations LLC, said that the overall process went smooth and he was impressed that Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal completed the project ahead of schedule. The project included applying GE Silicon coating to the flat roof, replacing shingles to the pitched roof sections, and pressure washing the tile surfaces.
“We were really pleased with the whole process,” Gabriel said. “We have 400 residents here 24/7. They were in their rooms during the whole process and we even had a group of residents putting chairs out and watching the project. We were given a deadline of August and it was completed ahead of schedule in June. We couldn’t be happier. It was a very easy process for us and it’s a big deal because this was our largest capital expense on our property.”
Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal Senior Roofing Consultant Nolan Wilson said this was a particularly unique commercial roofing project for his 14-person crew because of the multiple peaks on the rooftop. The GE Silicon material that was applied to the flat roof is a high solids hydrophobic material that repeals water on flat surfaces.
“This (GE Silicon coating) was the perfect solution for hard to reach areas,” Wilson said. “It was a logistically ran project that had many moving parts; we put all the pieces together and the results show.”
