Normally, one thinks of cats climbing onto a roof, but one determined pooch proved that idea wrong to some Texas roofing contractors.
As NBC affiliate KETK reports, the crew of Avco Roofing in Tyler, Texas were out filming a new method for disposing of roof shingles on Tuesday when a surprising visitor arrived. There, standing on the roof, was a stray black and white dog.
The crew — which jokingly called the dog a roofer — determined the curious canine had climbed a ramp, jumped across at least two roofs and ended up on the roof near the filming location.
“Definitely not something we see every day, we’ve seen a lot of weird things on roofs, you know, weird holes and tears and damages. Dogs? No, that’s not very normal,” Chris Rollins, media director and drone pilot, told KETK.
The amusing drone footage captured by the crew shows firefighters trying to coax the dog toward them, but the canine managed to elude them. Eventually, the dog hopped onto another section of the roof, leapt to a different section, then jumped down to the ground before trotting away.
“Very, very, very eventful day, I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Eric Macintosh, product developer.
Finding Forever Families
If that isn’t enough cuteness for one day, then meet Ellie, the mascot of Elliott Roofing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who is celebrating her birthday in a special way.
Elliott Roofing is teaming up with the Oklahoma Humane Society to celebrate Ellie’s birthday on Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oklahoma Humane Society Adoption Center.
People of all ages are invited to come, with the first 75 guests receiving a surprise gift, a goodie bag and more. In addition to meeting Ellie, attendees are encouraged to find their own furry friend to adopt and add to their family while visiting.
“When we had the opportunity to add Ellie, an audacious Australian Shepherd, to our roofing team, we were panting and drooling at the mouth to do so,” the Elliott Roofing website states.
