GAF is hosting a virtual discussion with two military veterans who helped protect our country and continue to answer the call of public service.
Join GAF as it speaks with U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (N.J.-11) and Team Rubicon Co-founder and CEO Jake Wood about their missions to serve others. The web event will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET on Nov. 10.
On the eve of Veteran’s Day, participants will hear directly from two military veterans who helped protect their country and continue to answer the call of public service. The discussion will give an insight into their personal stories and explain how we as a community can better serve veterans.
Sherrill is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and spent nearly 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy flying missions in Europe and the Middle East as a helicopter pilot. She was elected to Congress in 2018 to represent New Jersey’s 11th district, and serves as an advocate for veteran-related issues. As of Nov. 6, she was projected to be re-elected.
Wood served in the Marine Corps as a Scout-Sniper, with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He co-founded Team Rubicon, an international disaster relief organization, following the Haiti earthquake of 2010. Team Rubicon now has more than 120,000 volunteers, responded to more than 700 disasters and raised nearly $250 million for its work. He received the Pat Tillman Award for Courage at the 2018 ESPYs.
