Trent Cotney, CEO of Cotney Attorneys & Consultants, started a period of accelerated growth within the construction law firm he founded well before the COVID-19 pandemic set in. The pandemic itself accelerated that process further as the firm added business and political consulting wings, while also expanding its international reach. That evolution culminated this week when Cotney announced Cotney Attorneys & Consultants was acquired by Adams and Reese, LLP.

The highly-decorated law firm has a footprint of offices stretching from the South to Washington, D.C., including five locations in Florida.

"We are excited about this opportunity to add our already deep bench to a national firm like Adams and Reese, whose resources and platform will take us to the next level," said Cotney, who will become a partner at Adams and Reese, in a written statement. "As advocates for construction clients in the U.S. and around the world, our combined team has a deep understanding of what we must bring to bear when providing the most comprehensive counsel to our clients, and we can better meet their needs through our collective strengths. Our team shares Adams and Reese's forward-thinking vision and commitment to diversity, which will exponentially grow our combined capabilities."
