Roofing demand is high, and jobs are selling. However, some roofing contractors are finding it harder to get paid in today’s volatile economy.
RC Legal Insights Analyst Trent Cotney, of Adams and Reese, breaks down what roofing contractors need to know about collections in the post-pandemic economy.
“It’s a sign of the times,” he explained in this brief video chat with RC Publisher Jill Bloom. “One of the things we’re seeing is a pickup in emails and phone calls from contractors about customers slow-paying, or not paying. That’s forced contractors to really focus on their accounts receivables and collection activities.”
A critical step contractors can overlook is establishing their lien rights, Cotney said.
“It could be the difference between getting paid or not getting paid,” he said.
