The International Roofing Expo (IRE) returns to Dallas March 7-9, 2023, and Roofing Contractor offers the following sneak peek into news surrounding what is shaping up to be a stellar show.
A NEW LOOK
If you haven’t checked out the IRE website at theroofingexpo.com in say, about a year, you’ll be in for a surprise. Show operators completely overhauled the website to offer more user-friendly functionality and easier navigation to a plethora of information. Even prior to registering, visitors can sign up to receive show updates digitally, and get a searchable glimpse of exhibitors on the show floor.
A show planner function allows attendees to log in and create accounts that will help them save time with product recommendations, schedule appointments to a digital calendar and save educational sessions that shouldn't be missed.
Also added is an entire suite of information highlighting the show’s commitment to sustainability and being a good environmental partner to the industry and city of Dallas. The site breaks down the IRE Sustainability Program and offers three pledges to: practice environmental responsibility; present social responsibility; and inspire sustainable development industrywide. After brief explanations of all three, the site offers a drop-down menu that further describes the ongoing efforts show planners implemented to conserve energy, promote recycling, donate food and limit the overall impact.
KEYNOTE: THE WAR FOR TALENT
While supply-chain issues and the nation’s sluggish economic recovery from the pandemic consistently grabbed headlines over the past year, roofing contractors were still worried mightily about the continued workforce shortage industrywide, and how it’s getting worse.
As the industry is increasingly vulnerable due to an aging workforce, and the lingering Great Resignation phenomenon, finding and keeping skilled, reliable and ambitious employees is at a premium. Chris Czarnik is trying to help. The author and award-winning speaker will kick-off the 2023 IRE with a keynote presentation centered on how to find and prepare the next generation of roofers. The event, titled, “Winning the War for Talent: One of the Roofing Industry’s Biggest Challenges” begins at 9:30 a.m. March 7 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Grand Ballroom.
Czarnik will outline real-world strategies around employee recruitment, engagement and retention, and should have attendees energized with actionable strategies to implement immediately.
SRS CONCERT: GOING TO CHURCH!
The last time the roofing industry took over Dallas during the International Roofing Expo, SRS Distribution made sure attendees left with a memorable experience by featuring rock legends Journey, and a brief visit by former President George W. Bush. The Dallas-area-based supplier is building on that night by offering another blockbuster act for its annual SRS Raise the Roof Foundation benefit concert on March 8 at Gilley’s.
Country singer/songwriter Eric Church will headline the evening’s event that will also feature country sensation Darius Rucker and Ray Wylie Hubbard. Rucker, the former lead man of Hootie & the Blowfish, previosuly played to the roofing audience at the 2021 IRE SRS Foundation concert in Las Vegas. Proceeds for this year’s event will continue to support military veterans, first responders and their families.
The nonprofit SRS Raise the Roof Foundation was formed in 2012 as a way for SRS to give back to its communities, often championing causes like support for military veterans and disaster relief. For more information, visit www.srsraisetherooffoundation.org.
