There are a lot of people, companies and organizations talking about the increasing role of women in the roofing industry. Kristina Hill is doing something about it.
The co-owner of Homeshield Roofing & Exteriors in Lincoln, Neb., isn’t just leading by example and mentoring others interesting in the roofing trade. The RC Young Gun created a Facebook group called Harness & Heels -- an online platform for women working in roofing or seeking a place in the industry.
It’s grown to more than 1,600 members across the United States and Canada in two years and hosted its first in-person meet-up during the 2023 International Roofing Expo in Dallas.
“We like to provide education, support, community and really build up this generation and the next of women in this industry,” Hill said during a brief chat with RC Publisher Jill Bloom from the IRE show floor.
“At the moment, we’re only an online community … but we have some plans to create an online membership directory and have more regional and local events.”
