Gleaming in the bright Florida sunshine, a home in the Coral Gables neighborhood of Miami-Dade County wowed members of the Metal Roofing Alliance, which bestowed a blue ribbon on the home as the trade organization’s Best Metal Roofing Project competition winner for the first quarter of 2023.
The reroofing project, made from copper, was installed by Istueta Roofing, a multi-generational family-owned roofing contractor, and was manufactured by Metal Master Shop; both concerns are based in Miami.
The oceanfront home in Coral Gables, a swanky section of Miami-Dade located seven miles south of downtown Miami, is exposed to a variety of harsh conditions, including wind, saltwater and intense sun exposure.
According to a news release from Istueta Roofing, the homeowner wanted to invest in the strongest roofing system possible for the nearly 20-year-old home. The new copper roof has circular and two semicircular radius elevations. The standing seam style accentuates the home's architectural design, providing maximum durability and protection — undisputedly elevating its curb appeal.
“We pride ourselves in providing quality work,” said Laura Coronel of Istueta Roofing. “We are grateful for this opportunity and the level of trust the client gave us. This home now has one of the strongest roofing systems available, designed last for many years to come.”
Contenders Wanted
With the first quarter’s winner selected, MRA is now on the hunt for submissions in its second quarter portion of the Best Residential Metal Roofing project contest. Open to North American homeowners, contractors, installers and manufacturers, officials will select the next winner based on the following:
- Project appearance
- Performance
- Originality/use of materials
Interested participants may upload their project photo along with a 200-word (or less) description of why their metal roofing project is worthy of top honors. Only residential metal roofing projects in the U.S. and Canada will be considered.
