SRS Distribution Inc.’s philanthropic arm, the SRS Raise the Roof Foundation, announced on May 9 plans for a multi-year financial commitment of $1 million for the new National Medal of Honor Museum to be built in Arlington, Texas; Raise the Roof will be recognized as a Founders Circle member.
In a company news release, the museum is described as “…[creating] a place of reverence to honor the more than 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients whose incredible courage, personal risk, and sacrifice helped protect our freedom and democracy.”
SRS’ nonprofit Raise the Roof Foundation was founded more than a decade ago with a mission to “give back to our communities” and be good corporate citizens. Raise the Roof Foundation has become a champion of causes and organizations that support veterans and their families, as well as those that address disaster relief and other critical community needs.
Chris Cassidy, president and CEO of the National Medal of Honor Foundation and Charlotte Jones, Foundation chair, said, “Our board and staff are tasked with the solemn and patriotic duty of building a museum that will preserve the legacy of those awarded the Medal of Honor, tell their stories to the next generation of Americans and inspire leadership, valor and love of country.”
The statement expressed gratitude to SRS and its philanthropic arm for the generous financial support.
“Our commitment to veterans and our military runs strong and deep at SRS and Raise the Roof,” Dan Tinker, president and CEO of SRS Distribution, said. “It is only fitting that we share our support for this inspirational project during Military Appreciation Month.”
Tinker, who is also president of the Raise the Roof Foundation Board, noted the hallowed view Medal of Honor recipients holds in America: "The National Medal of Honor Museum is a tremendous way to pay homage to these American heroes. We look forward to the opening of this exceptional facility near our corporate hometown in North Texas and sharing it with our customers, employees, supporters and friends.”
