Reporting from KCRA in Sacramento, Calif., shows a suspected burglar in Stanislaus County caught after a bungled attempt to rappel from the roof of a business, Patterson police said in a statement after releasing security video from inside an auto repair shop.
Patterson, a smallish city located about 17 miles southwest of Modesto, with a population hovering around 24,000 and encompassing less than 8 square miles, is known more for growing apricots than feats of daring-do.
Police officials said the 30-year-old man became stuck, and his “moans of pain” while dangling from the room set off an alarm, alerting authorities. The would-be “Mission Impossible” emulator eventually dropped to the floor and was subsequently arrested and booked on burglary charges, police said.
