Johns Manville, the supplier of roofing systems solutions for more than 150 years, announced the launch of its ENRGY 3 HD cover board, offering greater R-value than a gypsum cover board and 80 psi for strength and resistance to damage from hail, foot traffic, construction loads and routine maintenance.
In a news release, JM said its ENRGY 3 HD cover board is significantly lighter weight* than typical gypsum: A half-inch 4x8 ENRGY 3 HD board weighs approximately 85% less than a comparable half-inch 4x8 gypsum board*.
JM said ENRGY 3 HD’s weight advantage makes it easier to handle, providing labor and installation efficiencies and easy hoisting, staging, and maneuvering around the roof. It also allows easy and efficient scoring, cutting, and snapping, which permits fast, tight fabrication in a low-dust environment.
Additionally, ENRGY 3 HD boards can offer shipping efficiencies, with approximately three times more material per truckload than gypsum products*, which translates to fewer truck deliveries to the jobsite, potentially saving money.
ENRGY 3 HD can be used as a substrate in mechanically attached and induction-welded systems with any JM single-ply membrane and is eligible for a Peak Advantage Guarantee of up to 30 years, depending on the assembly.
