I’ve been thinking a lot about engineers lately and concluded they must be alien beings. For reasons I do not understand, God sent these advanced life forms to earth to keep people like me from mass chaos. There must be an engineering angel whose job is to keep us from self-destruction.
As we approach the end of another year it is
time to give thanks and for many to “give back”. It is unfortunate that many of
us do not have as much to give back as in years past, but it is important that
we do the best we can.
The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) has a
reputation for top-notch technical sessions, and its 2010 annual conference in Indianapolis was no
exception. A standing-room-only crowd was on hand for the panel on “TPO
Long-Term Performance.”
Be prepared for information galore in the December issue of Roofing Contractor. That’s because we
highlight the 6th Annual Best of Success (BOS) conference held Sept. 26-28 in
Denver.
One of my favorite events is Roofing Contractor’s Best of Success conference. This two-day
educational conference offers cutting-edge educational sessions, but what
really distinguishes it from other forums is the many opportunities to share
ideas and brainstorm with others in the roofing industry.
“Nothing in America
happens until something gets sold,” said Michael Kelley. “And hard work is the
yeast which raises the dough.” Kelley, the General Manager of Kelley
Construction Contractors, focused his presentation at Best of Success on building
value with the customer. Right off the bat, he acknowledged that it takes time
and effort.
I’ve been feeling pretty good about 2011. There are several signs the economy is rebounding. Many construction-related firms throughout the supply chain have indicated they are gradually climbing out of their respective holes.
So
what does China have to do
with American business, and especially what does China
have to do with the roofing business in the USA? A few things in the news
lately have me thinking.
