Before becoming the owner of Guardian Roofing and Windows in
Tacoma, Wash.,
Aaron Santas worked as a branch manager for a major construction materials
distributor. Santas worked closely with a lot of contractors, and he found out
that the successful ones had something in common. “Successful contractors watch
their numbers, and they know them intimately,” he said.
A few months back my good friend, roofing
contractor Tom Scribbins, approached me with an idea for a feature he would
like to write for Roofing Contractor
about the Better Business Bureau.
We have started a “Moving On” micro-site that will collect brief success stories from our readers. A recent Moving On feature is from Matt Spanton, and Matt will be our
speaker at our next webinar at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Nov. 18.
Allen Lancaster, the current president of the National Roofing Contractors Association, updated Best of
Success attendees on NRCA. “In a tough economy, there’s no shortage of issues,” he
said. “My hope for the year 2011 is that we finally get a Congress that is
business friendly.”
Mark your calendar. I am marking mine. July 6,
2016, is when I will be able to write my complete and unabashed thoughts on
changes coming to the supply chain in the roofing industry.
There
are so many great things to write about this beautiful Saturday morning. There
was a moonset on the way out and a sunrise on the way back from my
early-morning run. There was that email from our group publisher, Jill Bloom,
yesterday announcing the new micro-site, Moving
On (www.bnpmedia.com/movingon),
which was set up to report on contractors who are moving on beyond all the bad
news and recession talk. The stock market completed another mostly positive
week and Mom is up visiting from Jacksonville.
Life is good.
Greg Hoffman is President and co-founder of
Roofing Contractor Marketing, a company specializing in marketing and
advertising for roofing contractors. (Despite the similarity in name, the
company is not related to our magazine.)
The December 2010 issue of Roofing
Contractor magazine will have a breakdown of over a dozen speakers who
attended the Best of Success (BOS) conference held in September in Denver.
