It’s already shaping up to be a busy storm season across the United States, and roofers have to be prepared for much more than just the workload. Veteran attorney and RC Legal Insights Expert Trent Cotney said it’s essential that roofing contractors know not just how to respond to storm work quickly, but how to properly conduct business in specific states or communities in order to be successful.

“In the insurance and storm world there are constant changes. Every single state has some proposed changes going on so it’s important to keep up with that,” Cotney, partner with Adams & Reese, explained in an exclusive conversation with RC from the Western Roofing Contractors Association Advisory Board meetings in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

“Contractors need to have their emergency repair contracts, materials, and crews ready… and make sure you’re getting prepared now before storms hit,” he warned.
