How long have you been in the roofing industry, and how did you get your start?
IR: I started my career in the roofing industry in 2013 out in the field installing roofs. I moved up into the office in late 2015 to start my sales career, and in 2019, I was placed in the sales director role.
What are a few reasons why your company is successful?
IR:
- EOS: This has put systems and checks and balances in place to streamline the process and identify where issues are quickly.
- Accountability: Since being in the sales director role, a level of accountability has been put in place with my team, and we have grown from a $5 million company to $25 million.
- A common shared vision/goal that the entire company strives for. This allows us all to “row” in cadence and in the same direction.

Ian Rammel listened intently to his peers during the Young Guns workshop, held during the 2024 Best of Success conference in Bonita Springs, Fla.
What are the big challenges in your particular market, and how is the company addressing them?
IR: I know one challenge that everyone is facing is the labor shortage. Combine that with being in a market where you only have 10 good months to roof in a year, and they [create] one really big challenge: getting what you sell installed. We are exploring various options to help meet this labor demand and have been fortunate enough to always come out on top. Sub-contractors have been the biggest change in recent years in helping meet this demand.
Do you see your age as an advantage or disadvantage in this business?
IR: I can’t recall any experience where my age played to my advantage or against it.
What area of the roofing business are you most passionate about?
IR: Sales is my passion. I didn’t get into sales until I was in the roofing industry. I was a collegiate and professional athlete, and the sale process is the closest I can get to being back in some form of “competition.” Beyond the competition side of sales, there is nothing better than meeting a client, hearing what issues they have and then helping them solve those issues.
